I did it and it didn’t fit…

Don’t panic! I’m not talking about the dress. Everything is fine. Except… It was a fool’s errand. I tried to lay out the pattern onto the 3.5 yards of fabric. And no. It didn’t fit. I needed another yard, but since it won’t fit onto the piece I have, I need another separate piece totaling two yards. I’m looking. I’ve been on the internet for a couple hours today. I found some fabric on Pinterest that matches what I have, but the color says “eggnog.” Eggnog? That isn’t the color of my dress. Maybe, just maybe, it’s the same, but I can’t get my hands on it anyway. I now have two people looking for my fabric, both readers of my blog, Laurie (my sister-in-law) and Aunt June. They are on opposite ends of the country. North Carolina and Washington state. I am smiling thinking about the solidarity of the sisterhood, both working on trying to find fabric that may or may not exist! I’ve had meaningful conversations with both of them and it gives me the feels! And I don’t use that term very often!

On another note, I’m getting my hair done this week and we will talk about plans for my wedding hair. I’m at the point where I can get most of my hair into a ponytail. I also am at the point where I can look at a lot of gray hairs poking their nasty little selves into my vision, which, at last count, needs reading glasses to clarify. Oh, and on that note (again), I bought a new set of reading glasses today at Costco.

You know, it takes a village. Here I am making a wedding dress. Not really a big deal, in the grand scheme of things. But it makes me wonder about others who plan a wedding. This has definitely taken a lot longer than the first time around. It is also a different part of life. Back in the day, my “world” was occupied with wedding plans. Now, I have a little more on my plate: teaching Writing and Culinary Skills via the internet; raising a cat to be a good citizen in our house; and trying to maintain my sanity during a pandemic, among other things.

As a reminder, I’ve decided to post a picture of the “inspiration dress,” just so I can remember. I hope you have a great week. We are heading into Thanksgiving and hopefully you can be as thankful as I am for my friends and family.
